Back to School Season!

As I have completed some major back to school shopping, I have had the chance to reflect on this important season! It’s really nice to be able to have a summer break and to really unwind before the school year starts. The school calendar offers natural breaks that can be very rejuvenating and helpful. This past internship year was very enjoyable and I learned so much. Going into my first year as a school psychologist, I got the chance to really feel a sense of gratitude for working in such a people centric field. We get to be humans and to enjoy helping people! I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing I am helping people every single day. This is actually my 8th year working in public education and it was not always easy. I have had tough moments that made me question if I was even working in the correct field. This is why it is sooo important to put myself first and to make sure I am taking care of my mindset and self in a way that creates for sustainable and gentle productivity at work. I know school psychologists often have a heavy workload and that it is hard to tackle absolutely everything on the list. I have found that having faith that everything will workout has solved my to do list dilemma and caused me to be more present on the job.

I am also a huge advocate of making sure things just feel right even if it takes me a while to feel more like myself. More engaged and more mindful. I think this has been mentioned by a lot of people, but mental health is such an important aspect of our roles as parents, teachers, caregivers and helpers. We work with people and it is such a privilege to be chosen for such an important role. We can use our healthy perspectives, insights and abilities to help others if we put ourselves first. I don’t want to ever look back on a year and say that I didn’t enjoy it because I spent the whole year worrying about how things will turn out. I accept all outcomes and have faith that things will always work out for the best even in the most difficult moments. I’m wishing everyone a happy back to school season! ❤ My favorite season of all!

With Love,

Reading Professional Development this Summer! and Summer FUN <3

If you have ever worked in a school, or you are a parent, you probably understand the strong importance of early literacy skills on children. I just watched a professional development webinar as part of my summer professional development goal and learned so much about the basics and foundation of reading. Although I expect to learn much more in practice when I serve as a K-2 School Psychologist, I find that engaging in continuous learning and growth is vital to my continued curiosity and performance in the field. I really enjoy platforms like OSPA, APA, Council for Exceptional Children, and Thriving Students.

I hope you are enjoying your summer! Reading is such an important gift and ability. I am looking forward to completing some research on a site called Reading Rockets to continue to attain a strong foundation in reading development and intervention. Not to mention I do have my old textbook from grad school. LOVE being a life long learner and am really enjoying being part of this amazing field. ❤

Plus, I wanted to share a few pictures from my summer adventures so far! Love me some fun and traveling. I went to Bedford’s 250 US celebration, Went to London on a graduation trip, and watched the Lion King at Playhouse square in Cleveland. Not to mention had delicious peaches and creme at Cordelia! ❤

Happy Summer Break!

Noor 🙂
